in this strange, home-bound time i've been turning consistently to music for stability. learning favorite songs, practicing a lot, consuming old and new albums like a meal. there's been some writing, too. what a huge gift music is in my life.

The Ghost was written back in late january, as an exploration in the processing of the grief we take on when someone dies, specifically when that grief comes on strong and neither you nor the people around you understand why. but maybe there's some solace in the beautifully human tendency to see signs of our lost loved ones in the world around us.

The Clock i wrote in march, as part of a miniature writing bootcamp for myself (i was trying to produce 2 particular types of songs in 2 days). this one was supposed to be sunny, and i think it sort of is, though i'm not sure. it does make me happy to play.

and A Face, well this one is a love poem.

i hope that these songs can be a bridge between me and you while we have to be away from each other. some of us are far even while in the same city due to necessary distancing, and others are also far from me geographically (or maybe i'm far from them). but let's pretend we're in the room together as you listen to these songs.
